Shin Megami Tensei
Shin Megami Tensei, unlike a lot of other online games, has a very long history.
It was first released in 1992, first on the Nintendo Super Famicom (the japanese version of the Nintendo SNES), and subsequently on other Platforms like PC. The story of Shin Megami Tensei has even been featured in a video animation and manga comics, in Japan.
The basic story of Shin Megami Tensei revolves around demons. Demons, according to the story, come in various forms, and could be things like data, imagination or beliefs. The demons fool mankind into unwanted actions, which eventually leads to World War III. World War III then completely destroys the earth, and only few survive.
In the aftermath of this, a new world, called demon world arises. Around Tokyo, mankind has managed to create a relatively peaceful and stable environment. However, three new obelisks come to fight mankind once again. In Shin Megami Tensei, one slips into the role of a demon buster. It is possible not only to shoot the demons (or use spells against them), but also to use other methods like convincing the demons to fight on your side. Other features of Shin Megami Tensei include real time battle tactics, as well as character customization.
The system requirements for Shin Megami Tensei are unusually high, for an online game. A 3 ghz Pentium 4 processor is recommended, along with 1024 MB RAM Memory. The graphics card should be a Radeon X 1800, a Geforce 7800 or better (128MB Ram required).
3 GB of free disk space are required, and of course a DSL Internet-Connection (should have at least 1,5 MBPS of Downstream). Shin Megami Tensei only runs on Windows XP or Vista (only the 32-Bit version).
