Free Fantasy MMORPG Runes of Magic
Short Introduction to the Fantasy MMORPG Runes of Magic
Since its official start in March the MMORPG Runes of Magic becomes a talking point, called briefly RoM. Its resemblance to WoW can’t be denied, but in contrast to this the download as well as playing is free. The publisher finances the game by letting the players buy special items and other in-game stuff for real money.
Dual class system
One of the specific features of RoM is the so called “Dual Class System”. During character creation the player chooses the main class of his virtual counterpart just like in most other on-line RPGs, but when the char reaches level 20, a secondary class can be added. This leads to a much more differentiated player-mass like in other games where every high level char looks like each other.
Classes
Since the latest patch there are 8 character classes to choose from: Warrior, Scout, Rogue, Mage, Priest, Knight, Warden, Druid. The special abilities of each of these classes are very similar to those of their respective counterpart in WoW or other MMORPGs.
Player Housing
In RoM it is possible for each player to have his own house. But this player-home is only visible from the inside and is not placed in a player-reachable part of the game world. Each player gets a custom maid which allows to change the current main class or open his bank account.
Grouping and Raids
Runes of Magic often requires its players to join up and form a party. These parties consist of a maximum of 6 players and can be extended to raid-groups with at most 6 groups. In group-play every Class performs a special function. For example priests are the optimal healers or Knights are Tanks most of the time.
